DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN : Calculating Infinity
 Relapse Records

DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN : Calculating Infinity This band is awesome. Amazing. Stunning, All those pretty adjectives and then some. These NJ lads released a three song EP last year that clocked in at right around 7 or 8 minutes that sent more waves and caused more commotion among the underground since the Sex Pistols broke loose in '78. The music that Dillinger Escape Plan writes and performs is inhuman. Dizzying technicality, machine like rhythms, ordered chaos, daring ingenuity, and jaw dropping feats of sonic insanity. Faster than the mind can trace, Dillinger Escape Plan bash down the doors of what the listener is willing to accept as possible from human hands and boldly dare anyone else to even attempt it. This is the yardstick by which all bands will measure themselves in years to come. This album does for hardcore/metal what albums like Sgt.Peppers and Dark Side of the Moon did for rock. If you think that statement might be a little bold, just listen to Calculating Infinity and if you don't agree then you're not listening to the same album as I am. Dillinger Escape Plan is a band ahead of its time. Listening to Calculating Infinity is like taking a trip into the future and being able to see where hardcore will be in the next millennium. And let me tell you something, to these ears the next millennium sounds pretty damn good. Riffs and grooves that play out like quadratic equations, speed and power that defies all logic, and emotional intensity that will leave you drained, this is the sound of Armageddon and the time is now. It's time for us all to rethink where we stand musically. Do we remain in place and stagnate, or do we join the revolution and take control of our destiny? Whatever we decide, Dillinger has the head start and it's up to us to play catch-up. Throw away all your old CD's as this is where it starts over................
